In a new video from Bayer’s “We’re Aging,” I explain how poor nutrition can play a role in cardiovascular disease and erectile dysfunction. We are increasingly aware of the importance of proper nutrition for good health, but our pace of life means that we don’t give it the attention it deserves.
It is essential to bear in mind that an inadequate diet leads to all kinds of alterations in our organism. For example, poor blood sugar regulation, cholesterol, hypertension, overweight or obesity.
It will harm your sexual health
- Several studies have shown that patients suffering from erectile dysfunction also tend to present these diseases, so that food also influences this disorder. In fact, it often appears prior to cardiovascular problems, even several years before. This is why it is called a sentinel symptom. Erectile dysfunction is an alteration, sometimes even the only one presented by the patient, which can indicate that there are problems in the heart.
- It is therefore necessary to see a specialist to assess the situation. An unbalanced diet rich in saturated fats, simple sugars, poor in fiber and with a higher caloric intake than necessary has a negative impact on our health.
- On the contrary, a good example of good nutrition would be to follow a Mediterranean diet: rich in vegetables, fruit, fish, olive oil and nuts among other foods.
- To improve and prevent cardiovascular diseases, we must start by changing our lifestyle and try to eat a more balanced diet, do sports regularly, stop smoking and not consume other harmful substances.
